What is with this day?!

So – its not even 11:00 and already this day is a stress-fest. So much going on with design work at SM. I think being a designer is a lot more work than people imagine. It’s not just the fun stuff – creating cute stuff and scrapping. It’s all the behind the scenes stuff that really gets me feeling run-down.

But I don’t want to focus on the negative. It just makes me feel worse. So – let me focus on something positive. I’ll share some of the pages I scrapped last week. This first one is for the new “My Story Matters” challenge I started this yesterday.

I REALLY love the My Story Matters challenges. Creating this personal history is so fun. I can just imagine my future children holding it on their laps and reading about me and learning about my life. PLUS its fun to be nostalgic and reminisce. BUT almost NO ONE does them. I get about 6 or 7 entries for each challenge at that’s it (and that’s counting the SM Team members who do them)! I can almost guarantee you that they are the least popular challenge at SM. Which makes me worry that they’ll get canceled some day. I strongly urge you guys to jump in and start scrapping these challenges. They are just so much fun!! They definitely aren’t getting the following they deserve! HAHA

This next page I scrapped with a fabulous new collab. kit by Tangie Baxter and DeCrow Designs called “Medieval Faire”. It’s so fun!!! Makes me wish I could go to a Renaissance Faire or something!

Another page using a brand new kit by Mira Designs called “Under the Sea”. Mira Designs just moved to Shabby Pickle Designs! And this is her debut kit over there.

Here’s the page I scrapped with it:

And, Minna is offering a free add-on and QP on her blog – so go pick that up too!

This is the page I did at the Speed Scrap last week. My family went to support my cousin who was in town last week touring with his band. It was the craziest, hardest, screamiest ‘music’ I’ve ever heard. But he was living his dream and we were there to support him and that’s all that matters.

Wow – I just realized I scrapped a LOT of stuff last week. Mostly for CTs. Ok – let’s soldier on.

And last but not least – getting a little artsy with a “fat book” page.

Ok – looking through my LOs has made me feel a little better. Sorry if I bored you guys, but it was good therapy for me.

I’ll see you guys tomorrow. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow – a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT will be posted.

See ya!

  2. I'm sorry you're feeling overwhelmed.. But try to focus on the good things: look at all the wonderful pages you did last week!!
I'm so sorry you're disappointed about the My Story Matters challenge – you know it's my favorite challenge ever!
I'm curious about the announcement now..! Hugs!

  3. Courtney (aka cnscraps)

I hope they don't get rid of the 'My Story Matters' Challenge! I look forward to viewing the pages you guys make. I haven't made one…I wish I was caught up on the rest…but maybe I just need to bite the bullet and do it so they stay alive!!!

Hope you have a better night 🙂 Be back tomorrow!

  4. I am definitely going to try to scrap a LO for My Story Matters this week. I really love that challenge. Hope your day gets better! Can't wait to hear your announcement!

  5. sorry you are feeling so overwelmed and stressed!! You are LOVED!! Hugs! I love the idea of my story matters! I just don't have a scanner! ARGH! So one day I will scan in tons of pics and scrap all the back challanges! I think it is the coolest idea EVER! I scraped the first one (stole the graphic designers scanner at work)and just haven't gotten it together since! Can't wait to see what the big annoucement is! Just think, soon you will be in DISNEYWORLD!! YAY!

  6. I'm sorry you're having such a gloomy day! Thank you for doing the drudgery part of the business! I do appreciate it! I love SM – you, the other designers, admins, CT & SMG really rock the Scrapping world! There is not a friendlier site!!

I love the MSM challenges!! I'm always excited to see what is next. I know I would do them more if I had more of my photos scanned – my mom still has most of them in her possession. It's my own fault for not getting on the ball. I hope they aren't canceled in the future!

    Hoping your day gets better!!

  7. I got hooked on the SM challenges this month. I really want to do the "My Story Matters" challenge, but I have ZERO pictures from my childhood. Zero. I'm going home next week, and I already told my mom I'm not leaving until I scan in some pictures. 🙂

  8. Big announcement…..I am dying to know…… WOW, I can't believe how much you scrapped. You are AMAZING! Can you send some of that mojo my way. I was just thinking I want to finish up my 2008 album, but I'm kind on in a funk. I love the my story matters pages too! And I WISH with all my heart I did more of them!

  9. You know I love those MSM Challenges! I missed out on them last month, and was super bummed! I'm going to try to fit the stories into other challenges this month. And….don't worry, be happy!

  10. icedlatteprincess:)

Scrap therapy is the BEST!!! I had an icky childhood (really long sad story and not one I want to journal for my kids to remember), but being able to srap my kids lives has helped to heal some of mine. My parents didn't have a camera when I was little, so all I have is few that others gave my parents.
I think it is great you had such a terrific memorable childhood and that should be scraped for your little ones to come and for YOU so you never forget. I will check in to the challenge and see if there is something I can scrap…Just remember when you are having challenges in your life it builds YOU!! With out them…we would be really sad people:) So, don't worry, be HAPPY!
Can't wait to hear the announcement tomorrow!

  11. oh im sorry for the crummy day. I was just leaving Chelle a comment that i dont think people realize how many collabs and enables and blog posts and all the other stuff you guys do. I know just on my cts I have alot of other stuff besides scrapping and some days its just not fun lol. Big hugs. And as far as the MSM they are my favs! I just get backlogged cause I can only do so many and those take alot of thought. But I have been wprking on some of the past ones!

  12. I'm sorry the behinds the scene stuff is so stressful. You know that I'm always a phone call or email away if you ever need a listening ear. I love your My Story Challenge and love looking at your pages. I've never done this challenge but now I'm going to. I always think to myself that I should do this, so now I will. Can't wait to see what your big announcement is! I love you!

  13. Britt – So sorry you had a crummy start to your day…hopefully it turned around and improved some. I can honestly say that I have NO idea how much work designing takes, but hugely admire all the dedication and hard work you put in each and every week. I was just thinking to myself last week how much time it must take you…you always release AT LEAST two new products each week (to make sure the show offs get something too) which is HUGE!! Sorry the behind the scenes stuff is getting you down, but just remember…it too shall pass. You are down to less than 70 days til Disney World!!! {hugs}
Can't wait to "hear" your big announcement tomorrow!!!

  14. Well, I don't know about you but after reading the comments people left you I'm totally encouraged and I didn't even have that crummy of a day today! LOL =) My husband and I took our daughter to see Horton Hears a Who (free summer movies). It was the only one on their list for this summer that I thought would be okay for her to see. She started complaining of a sore throat a couple days ago and last night was no picnic! I thought, "GREAT, we are going to miss out again!". I thought Tinkerbell was going to be a theater release when I saw the previews a year beforehand. I thought that would be PERFECT for her first movie last summer! But, it ended up only coming out on DVD!! I was SO bummed and really wanted to scrap that as her first theater movie. =( We did make it today and she did get through it okay. I mean, she LOVED the movie, but was coughing and sneezing through it…poor thing! So, she wasn't in the best mood! When I was taking pics and asked her to give me a thumbs up, she did a thumbs down…gotta love that she's 3!! So wish me luck on scrapping this…I'll be sending it as a show off…I hope! Thanks for putting up with what you do. I understand all the "behind the scenes stuff" all too well and it can get to you after a time. Just know that we all appreciate you and adore your designs! =) Thanks for reading my "book"…(sorry)! I have your MSM Challenges "marked" for when I get my childhood pics from my parents to scan in…that'll be a chore! =) I'll try to get some in though!

  15. These are really beautiful pages, really something to pick anyone up who's having a bad day. hope you feel better 🙂

  16. I love when you post a bunch of LOs that you have been working on! They are always so cute and inspiring! I hope one day Isaac will decide to start taking naps so I can play around w/ digi scrap again!!

  17. I love the 'my story matters' challenge! sorry about the low participation, I'll work on doing my part! 🙂

  18. Sorry you were having a rough day, I hope things have gotten better by now. Take care.

    *hugs*
