Hey blog readers. Does anyone out there have a tried-and-true Green Bean Casserole recipe they’d be willing to share with me?? I just got my assignment for Thanksgiving dinner. We’re going my aunt and uncle’s house and I’m bringing Green Bean Casserole.
(thanks to Flickr for the photo)
It’s not something we normally have at Thanksgiving in my family, I don’t have a family recipe to use. I’ve had other people’s Green Bean Casserole and so I know I like it, and I’m excited to make it for the first time!
Obviously, I could just Google a recipe, but I’d rather have it come from someone who can say “this is my yummy recipe”. That way I know I’m getting a good one!!
I like canned beans and condensed soup! I’m not looking to make this harder than it needs to be! The easier the better!!
Thanks in advance for your help!
What are you guys making for Thanksgiving this year? Anything new? The old family favorites? I love recipes, so let’s talk FOOD!!
I use the recipe on the French's fried onion can. I will also use a bit of soy sauce too for flavor.
I use the same recipe but NO soy sauce. I used frozen green beans, french cut style. Use Campbell's brand soup, not generic. Good luck and happy thanksgiving!
I totally use the recipe on the can of FF onions too!! LOL!
But I use extra FF onions because I don't use them for anything else through the year so they end up going to waste, and I really like the onions.
There's one on pioneer woman's website, all her recipes seem to get great reviews. Hugs Crystal xx http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/11/green-bean-casserole/
I use the one my mom has used for years. It is just combining mushroom soup and french style green beans (I have used canned). Then sprinkle plain bread crumbs on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Keep an eye on it … should be bubbling around the edges and bread crumbs on top have a golden color.
Have a happy Thanksgiving Brittney!
I use the basic recipe from the can of french fried onions, too. If I remember to buy them, I throw in some water chestnuts (yum!).
For extra french fried onions, I have another casserole recipe that's perfect for after Thanksgiving: layer of Stovetop stuffing on the bottom, then mix together cooked turkey (or chicken) pieces, a can of cream of whatever, and steamed broccoli and pour on top, then top it all with french fried onions and grated cheese. Bake at 350 until done — 40 minutes or so? It's super yummy!
Hey…that's my assignment this year too for my mom's Thanksgiving on Sunday. She told me to use the recipe on the French's fried onion can too! Happy Thanksgiving!
Hey, did you know that I started making Grandma Rodee's cheese potatoes for Thanksgiving with Josh's family a few years ago, and now they demand that I make them every year. I usually 3 times the recipe, and I am lucky to even get 1 helping. Funny, huh! Good luck with the green bean casserole! I've never made it.
Along with pumpkin pie (I can now do an eggless one since my little guy is allergic to eggs), the green bean casserole is what I'm always asked to make as well. I too use French's recipe, but I use fresh green beans when I can find them. I make sure that I cook the green beans first to soften them before I follow the rest of the directions. Happy cooking and happy turkey day!
I use the one from the French's friend onion can, too. I sure hope they never take it off of there! It's really easy and good. I like the french style green beans the best with this recipe.
Tried and true the French's Fried Onion recipe. I use fresh green beans and I think it makes a difference. (if you can get them fresh where you are) I don't add in anything extra….. it tastes just the way everyone expects it to! 🙂 🙂
Have fun!!
p.s. You scored, this is super easy to make!!
Britt – I use the one from Campbell soup…Go to this web site for receipe…http://www.campbellskitchen.com/RecipeDetail.aspx?recipeId=24099&pd=yes&mtag=sea_RWCook_aol
We made this one last year and it's a HUGE hit. Even better you can make parts of it ahead of time. It taste so much better than the "regular" French's recipe.

I use the recipe on the French's can too! Its good and really easy! I use the french style green beans in a can. I dont like fresh green beans for some reason 🙂
If you want to do a little extra something to wow your family…make Piccadilly's Carrot Souffle! I make it every thanksgiving no matter where I am. The missionaries request it when I am in Africa and my family requests it when I'm in the states. You can find the recipe here: http://projects.eveningedge.com/recipes/piccadilly-cafeterias-carrot-souffle/
