Alrighty – I’m back for my promised recap of my fun birthday weekend. Right before we left I had a little photo shoot with my friend and her little family for their Christmas cards pics. I got home to find a TON of gorgeous red roses on my computer desk chair from Josh. They are so pretty. They started to really open up over the next two days, which is my favorite look for roses. I love getting flowers. Thanks baby!!
After I put my flowers in water, Josh got himself packed and ready to go we headed up to Park City. One speeding ticket later (boooo hoooo!!) we made it to the hotel. We were both pretty starving, so Josh checked in and then we went straight to dinner before going to the room. There was a little Italian restaurant (my favorite) just around the corner from the hotel. It was so yummy! We had so much food!! With plenty of leftovers for a midnight snack, we headed back to the hotel room.
Josh made sure the room was made up with a TON of extra pillows (he knows me so well) and he had sparkling cider and chocolate covered strawberries delivered to the room too!
The bed was seriously so comfortable, I think it will haunt me. I love staying in hotel rooms, so we had a great time! Josh gave me a silver peace sign necklace AND two slouchy knit hats that I’d been wanting too. Awesome gifts!! I was so excited.
The next morning we slept way in!! Then we got up, got ready and went shopping at the outlet malls (outdoor mall in the freezing cold wind and snow). We got some Christmas shopping done so that was good. Then we grabbed some lunch, drove slowly and carefully in the icy conditions down and out of the canyon. We stopped at the Disney Character Warehouse (basically a Disney Park merchandise overstock outlet) that comes to town every once in a while. I usually LOVE it, but it was pretty disappointing. There weren’t any great finds really. Bummer.
Then we just went home and had some much needed relaxation time. I even took a tiny cat nap. It was awesome. We had a great time. I wish it would have been a longer getaway, but it was still great! Josh has his finals today and tomorrow, so he spent his precious time that he could have been studying on me! I love him so much!
Sunday, my actual birthday, we went to church as usual. Chased a bunch of little tykes around nursery for 2 hours (LOTS of wailing and crying this week for some reason). Then we went to my Mom & Dad’s for my birthday dinner. I got to pick the menu, so we had grilled chicken, cheesy potatoes (I’ll have to share this recipe some day), and a green salad. It was delicious!! At the dinner table my mom decided that we’d go around and everyone would say one thing they loved about me. At first I was totally embarrassed, but it ended up being surprisingly meaningful and sweet! I will remember that little moment forever, and it was probably my favorite birthday memory of the whole weekend!
After dinner we had to set up for a family photo for my parents’ Christmas card. We just used a timer and stood in front of the Christmas tree, but they turned out ok!
Then we did presents (woo hoo!!)
Then cake from Cold Stone!

And as we do every Sunday night, we watched “America’s Funniest Home Videos” together and laughed our heads off. It was a great day. I love my family so much and I love how special they all made me feel.
So there you have it! My whole birthday weekend! Long and detailed enough for ya!?! hahaha
Let me wrap up by telling you two things that are going on at ScrapMatters. First – my new “Everyday Magic” challenge started today. This one is all about one of my favorite things – BOOKS. I chose to scrap about a favorite childhood storybook.
Come play along with the challenge!!
AND tomorrow morning at 11:00 am there is a Speed Scrap at SM. I’m having breakfast with my friend Shan (our excuse is to deliver her photo shoot CD haha!!) and then we are both going home to Speed Scrap! haha! Hope to see lots of you there as well.
See ya!
So glad you had a wonderful birthday weekend … Park City is gorgeous this time of year!

Glad you had a great weekend. Those strawberries did look yummy! I know what you mean about a disappointing trip to the Disney Outlet. We had one of those trips when we went to the one by Disneyland a few months ago. Better luck next time! 🙂
